Before I express my feelingssssss(Cos there's a lot to say), let me just just quote a post from the electronic message board(EMB) of HCI...
Dear all
(This refers to the band members),I'm sure many of you heard the news by now. Well, I'm not as
disappointed as some of you are. Really. Because I think you guys
did great. Honestly. There's nothing to be sad about. Ok, maybe a
little...because we missed the distinction by 0.3%
(It was later found out that our score was 84.17%, not 84.7%, so we missed gold with distinction award by 0.83%)(darn that stupid
announcer, purposely give us the suspense....)
But hey, this result was achieved by sending just 43 people. Sec 2s
and 3s. (ok, + 1 Sec 1
(That's me!). The other 2 distinction schools (Cedar and
CCK) fielded their Sec 4s...
We got the HIGHEST score for the GOLDs!
So don't be disappointed. Instead, be happy that we have improved!
From silver to GOLD!! Next year, we'll go the extra mile and bring
back the Honours! (If CCK - the so-so school we had an exchange with
last year, can improve by so much, so can we).
Well done all of you. I'm really proud of what you guys have
achieved in just 2 months+. Given we have more than 6 months to go
before SYF, we can definitely do it!
:)
Mrs Lai
(Teacher-in-charge for HCI band)Um, I am very proud and glad that my band did well, but It's such a pity that we missed 'gold with distinction' by just 0.83%!!!!!!!!!! Anyway, this was a very fun experience. When I stepped onto the stage, I almost couldn't feel my feet and before I knew anything, everything was over and I hardly could remember anything in the performance.(Really amazing, isn't it?)
No matter what the result is, the competition is over for us anyway. WE WILL WORK HARD TO ACHIEVE GOLD WITH HONOUR FOR NEXT YEAR'S SYF!
Thanks to Mr Leng, our conductor, who spent so much time and lost so much hair conducting, nagging and scolding us and made us achieve gold award.
Thanks to Mr Kiang, our another conductor, for fixing all the parts we played badly when Mr Leng was not around.
Thanks to Mrs Lai, teacher-in-charge of HCI band, who managed the band so well that we get to practise in the most efficient way.
Thanks to majors, Jie Xuan(YOU ROCK!!! HORN SECTION ROCKS!!!), Jiasheng and Qi Fan, who...(What exactly did they do? They seem to be doing everything for the band, but it's hard to list them out one by one...)
Thanks to all band members(including me) who work hard together towards our goal.
I LOVE YOU!!!
